A try from Will Jordan with the clock in the red helped the South claim bragging rights in New Zealand as they beat the North 38-35 in Wellington.
It had looked like the North would cling on for victory but there was late drama on Saturday as the team wearing white picked up a dramatic triumph.
Jordan grabbed a brace in the game while Nepo Laulala, Jordie Barrett and Tyrel Lomax also scored. Barrett added three conversions and a penalty.
Rieko Ioane also claimed two for the North to go with tries from Damian McKenzie, Aaron Smith and Ash Dixon as they fell to an agonising defeat.
